Japanese Scad (Decapterus maruadsi) Introductions

Distribution

Janpanese Scad are mainly distributed in the coastal waters of the Northwest Pacific Ocean. In China, they are concentrated in the East China Sea, the northern South China Sea, and the waters surrounding the Taiwan Strait, preferring to inhabit shallow continental shelf areas (20-50 meters deep). The coastal areas of Fujian, Guangdong, and Zhejiang are the main fishing grounds. Due to their adaptation to near-shore ecosystems, their annual yield is relatively stable, making them a common economic fish species along the coast.
